Wheelchair Information

Wheelchair Transport

Your wheelchair travels free, in addition to your baggage allowance.

How it works:

  • Your wheelchair will be transported in the aircraft baggage compartment.
  • You can use your own wheelchair up to the boarding gate (except electric wheelchairs).
  • Or check it at the check-in counter – airport staff will provide a wheelchair to bring you to the aircraft.
  • Your wheelchair will be returned to you immediately after landing or at baggage claim.
Use of Own Wheelchair

Manual wheelchairs are usually carried free of charge in the hold.

You can normally use your own wheelchair up to the aircraft door or gate (depending on airport facilities).

Our teams will then transfer your wheelchair to the hold and return it upon arrival.

Wheelchair Battery Requirements

Different battery types have different rules:

Non-spill liquid batteries:

  • Must be checked in during check-in.
  • Will be transported in the aircraft baggage compartment.
  • Battery terminal must be disconnected and isolated during transport.
  • You must have keys/tools for disconnection.

Lithium-ion batteries:

  • Must be checked in as baggage.
  • Battery terminal must be protected from short circuit.
  • Battery must be securely fastened to the wheelchair.
  • If battery is removable:
    • Capacity ≤ 300Wh.
    • Terminal protected.
    • Stowed under the seat in front.

Spare batteries:

  • One spare ≤ 300Wh, or
  • Two spares ≤ 160Wh each.
  • Must be stowed under the seat in front.

Important: Tell check-in staff your wheelchair weight.
