Travelling with Pets

  • Can I bring my pet?

    Yes — dogs and cats can travel in the cabin or hold. Other animals travel via Cargo only.

  • How much does it cost?

    Book at least 24 hours before departure — spaces are limited.

  • Are there any route restrictions?
    • Larnaca – Dubai: Pets can only travel via Cargo (not cabin or hold)
    • United Kingdom: Dogs, cats and ferrets must travel via Cargo due to UK regulations
  • What pets are NOT accepted?
    • Emotional support animals (guide dogs accepted — see Special Assistance)
    • Animals under 105 days old
    • Puppies and kittens under 12 weeks without rabies vaccination proof
    • Pregnant animals without fitness-to-travel certificate
    • Animals that gave birth in the last 48 hours
    • Strong/large breed dogs without reinforced kennels (IATA CR 82)
  • What documents do I need for my pet?

    Required by law (varies by destination):

    • Pet passport
    • Vaccination records
    • Microchip documentation
    • Health certificate from your veterinarian

    Check with your destination country's authority for import permits or additional requirements.

  • What are the carrier requirements?

    Your pet's carrier must be:

    • Firm plastic or metal construction
    • Well-ventilated
    • Large enough for pet to stand, turn around, and lie down
    • Maximum approx. 45×35×20cm for cabin travel
    • Fitted with a secure lock
    • Lined with absorbent, waterproof material

Special Assistance

  • What wheelchair assistance is available?
    • WCHR: Assistance for long distances in the airport
    • WCHS: Assistance to and from your aircraft seat
    • WCHC: Full assistance throughout your journey

    Request at least 48 hours before departure by calling +357 24 00 00 53 or submitting a special services form.

  • Is my wheelchair transported free?

    Yes — your wheelchair travels free, in addition to your regular baggage allowance.

    For battery-powered wheelchairs, inform us at least 48 hours before departure with battery type, weight, and dimensions.

  • Can I bring a guide dog?

    Yes — guide dogs travel free of charge in the cabin, subject to:

    • Certificate confirming special training from an organisation member of IGDF, ADEu or ADI
    • Dog must wear a muzzle and leash in the airport and cabin
    • Dog must be tied to the seat at your feet during the flight

    An extra seat will be reserved next to you at no additional charge (subject to availability).

    Important: Passengers with guide dogs cannot book online. Please call +357 24 00 00 53 to arrange your booking.

  • Do I need medical clearance to fly?

    You may need a MEDIF if you have:

    • Recent surgery or hospitalisation
    • Unstable heart or lung conditions
    • Medical equipment needed onboard

    Contact our Contact Centre to confirm requirements.
    Note: No stretcher transport or oxygen cylinders are available onboard.

Pregnant Women & New Mothers

  • Can I travel while pregnant?
    • Up to 28 weeks: No restrictions (consult your doctor before travel)
    • 28-36 weeks: Medical certificate required stating you're fit to fly
    • After 36 weeks: Travel not permitted for safety reasons
  • Can I travel after giving birth?
    • Within 7 days of birth: Travel not recommended
    • Travel may be possible with medical accompaniment and clearance from your doctor

Families & Children

Onboard & Catering

  • What food and drinks are included on my flight?

    All passengers receive a complimentary snack, choice of instant coffee or black tea, and mineral water.

    Additional snacks and beverages are available for purchase. We accept credit cards and Euro cash.

  • Can I pre-order meals?

    Yes — pre-order through our website, call centre, or travel agent up to 72 hours before departure. One meal per person per flight. Payment by credit card.

    Pre-order is available on Cyprus Airways operated flights only and is not available for infants.

    If your pre-ordered meal wasn't provided, email callcenter@cyprusairways.com within 1 month for a refund.

  • Can you accommodate allergies?

    Cyprus Airways cannot guarantee nut-free or allergen-free flights. Passengers must take all necessary medical precautions.

    Upon request, crew may ask nearby passengers to avoid certain foods, but we cannot make allergen announcements.

  • What are the rules for codeshare flights?

    For codeshare flights, the operating carrier's policies apply. You'll see "Operated by [Airline Name]" when booking.

    These services may not be available on codeshare flights:

    • Pet transport
    • Unaccompanied minor service
    • Seat selection purchase

Baggage

  • What's my cabin baggage allowance?

    Every passenger can bring one small personal item (up to 5kg, max 35×20×20cm) under the seat.

  • What if my hand baggage is too big or heavy?

    If discovered at the gate, it will need to travel in the hold for a €50 fee. We recommend weighing your bag at home.

  • What shouldn't I pack in checked luggage?

    Keep these in your hand luggage:

    • Passports, ID cards, travel documents
    • Money, jewellery, precious metals
    • Laptops and electronic devices
    • Keys and important documents
    • Fragile or perishable items
  • What are the liquids rules?

    In hand luggage, liquids must be:

    • In containers of 100ml or less
    • In a clear, resealable plastic bag
    • No more than 10 containers per passenger
  • My luggage was delayed or damaged — what should I do?
    • Before leaving the airport: Report immediately at our Lost & Found desk.
    • Damaged bags: You'll need a DPR, photos, purchase receipt, and repair receipt if applicable. Claims cannot be accepted after leaving the airport unless you can prove the damage occurred while in our care.
    • Delayed bags: Contact us for assistance.

    Not covered: Normal wear and tear, damage from overpacking, lost accessories, broken handles, musical instruments under limited release, fragile items.

  • When does online check-in open?

    Online check-in opens 48 hours before departure and closes 3 hours before.

    Tip: Check in online to skip queues — then head straight to bag drop at the airport.
    Note: Luggage must still be dropped off at airport counters.

  • How early should I arrive at the airport?

    Most destinations

    • Counters open 2.5 hours before departure
    • Counters close 40 minutes before departure

    Tel Aviv, Beirut, and Dubai

    • Counters open 3 hours before departure
    • Counters close 1 hour before departure

    All flights

    • Gate opens 40 minutes before departure
    • Gate closes 15 minutes before departure

Booking & Payment

  • What payment methods do you accept?

    On cyprusairways.com, you can use:

    • Credit & Debit cards: Visa, Mastercard, and Maestro
    • Digital wallets: Apple Pay (in Safari) and Google Pay (in Chrome)

    We don't charge payment processing fees. Refunds are processed to the original payment method (typically 5-10 business days).

  • How do I use a promo code?

    When booking, click "Add Promotion Code" in your shopping cart, enter your code, and the discount will apply.

    Tip: If your promo code applies to extras like seat selection or baggage, add those to your cart first, then apply the code.

  • How do I use a Travel Voucher?
    • Validity: 12 months from issue date (extensions not possible)
    • What you can use it for: Flights, extra baggage, seat selection, pet transportation
    • Not included: Insurance, hotels, car rentals, service fees

    If your booking costs less than your voucher value, the balance stays for next time. If it costs more, pay the difference with a card.

  • What does the travel insurance cover?

    Our travel insurance (provided by Cover Genius) covers:

    • Incidents during your flight
    • Baggage while in our care
    • Compensation for delays over 4 hours
    • Compensation for cancellations

    If you request a full ticket refund, your insurance is automatically cancelled and 100% of the premium is refunded.

  • Can I change my booking?

    Yes, changes can be made up to 1 hour before departure:

    Changes less than 1 hour before departure are not permitted. No-show bookings cannot be changed or refunded.

  • I already have a ticket — can I add my child's booking online?

    For children under 12, please call us on +357 24 00 00 53 to add them to your booking. Children 12+ can book separately online as they're considered adults in our system.
